Northeast Fishing Report: 6/25/21
Greetings Compleat Anglers! This past week had both highs and lows for anglers. If you fished out East for Stripers, you probably did very well. If you trout fished anywhere other than a tailwater, it was probably tough. The rivers are warming and it is getting late in the season. The Stripers are headed East. Northeast Fishing Report: 6/18/21
Greetings Compleat Anglers! The saltwater action has been great recently. The big Stripers have moved in thick across the Northeast with Rhode Island being the hot spot at the moment. The Western Sound seems to be cooling as far bigger fish are concerned, however they are still around and will be until the end of the month at least. Montauk has improved quite a bit over the last few weeks as has the Cape. The Trout fly fishing has begun to taper off as we approach the summer doldrums. Warming water and low flows means it's time to focus on tailwaters and leave the trout on warmer rivers alone until later the Fall. Read on for more...

Northeast Fishing Report: 6/11/21
The fly fishing for trout has been tough this past week. Low water and warmer temps along with bright sun has made it a challenge. Some anglers did well but many were faced with challenging conditions. Fortunately, the saltwater fly fishing more than made up for it, with a ton of really nice Stripers taken recently. Big fish are being found all along the East coast with Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Long Island being the hot-spots.

Northeast Fishing Report: 6/4/21
The big Stripers have moved in all across New York and Connecticut. Fly anglers are successfully targeting these fish in a bunch of different locations using very large flies. The Cinder Worm hatch is approaching and now is the time to begin preparations. The trout fishing has been hit or miss depending on where you are. The larger rivers across the Northeast are your best bet right now as they have cooler water and better hatches. Read on for more!

Northeast Fishing Report: 5/27/21
The fly fishing has been hit or miss depending on what you were targeting. The trout rivers across the Northeast are very low. We are in deseprate need of rain and as such, rivers are warming and the fish are far less active than in the past few weeks. Tailwaters such as the Farmington are still fishing well however and the Housatonic is about as good as it will ever get. Spectacular dry fly action on both of these rivers have kept most anglers very happy. The Stripers have made up for any shortcomings on the freshwater side of things. Bass are all over the place and some very big fish are mixed in. Stripers are hammering Bunker and with the weather we have coming up, the saltwater fly fishing should be lights out.

Northeast Fishing Report: 5/21/21
The fly fishing across the Northeast has been hot! Regardless of what you decide to target, the conditions are great for both fresh and saltwater species. The trout fishing has been holding steady in most places and improving significantly in others. While we could use a shot of rain, the hatches have kept most anglers smiling. The Farmington has been fishing well despite the crowds and the Housy is down to nice wadable levels. The Catskills are low as well, but the fly fishing has been great with lots of bugs hatching for the dry fly diehards. Rhode Island and New York have joined the Striper party with a mix of large and small fish in a lot of different locations. It is all happening right now!

Northeast Fishing Report: 5/14/21
Greetings Compleat Anglers! The action continues this week and conditions have been quite good. After last week's rain some rivers are still a bit on the high side but have fished well as they settle down a bit, with strong hatches and a variety of bugs to go along with the Hendricksons. We're also seeing some March Browns make their way into the picture too. In the salt, the fish have continued to disperse a bit along the coast and but the action has also been excellent with anglers reporting good fish in terms of numbers and size both. Northeast Fishing Report: 5/7/21
The Stripers have been the focus of most fly anglers lately. The arrival of larger fish in the 30 to 40 inch range (or better!) has resulted in some spectacular fly fishing all along the Northeastern Coast. There are still plenty of schoolies to keep those rods bent. As the fish spread out, so do the anglers, making for a much more enjoyable experience as competition for a few spots diminishes. The trout game has been a tough one this past week. Wind, rain, and substantial increases in CFS have kept most anglers off the water. Many of our better rivers are blown out and until that changes, Stripers will prove the most fruitful quarry.

Northeast Fishing Report: 4/30/21
The fishing this past week spectacular. It seemed like it did not matter what species anglers targeted, it was great across the board. The Striper fishing is at its peak. We are in the middle of the spring run and it seems like fish are being caught literally everywhere. The trout fishing was impressive as well. The Hendricksons are just getting going and even more stockings are in. Connecticut and New York have provided awesome fly fishing. Pike and Bass are also heating up for those anglers who want to do something a little different. Read on for more!

Northeast Fishing Report: 4/23/21
The fishing has been great over the past week. The Striper bite has taken center stage and anglers are capitalizing. All long the coast reports have been phenomenal with plenty of fish being caught and released. Some bigger fish are in the mix as well for the savvy fly anglers who know where and when to target them. The trout fishing has been great as well with the arrival of the Hendricksons. This is the first good mayfly hatch of the year and it is beginning on numerous streams in the region. As a bonus, pike are taking flies on a regular basis and smallies are very active at the moment too. It is all happening right now. It's time to get out there!
